When it Comes to Teaching, Less is More

My youngest daughter is in public school this year for the first time. She's a high school freshman and is really enjoying it. One day she came home from school and told me about her math class. She said, "After they spend a long time explaining something, I realize it's just that thing you taught me and I wonder why they have to make it so complicated." Thank you.

Well, if I needed to fill up a 50 minute class with something that takes only five and a half minutes to teach, I'd probably make it sound complicated too. ;)

That's a great observation! Such a bright kid must've had a great teacher growing up.(commenter says with grin)
It used to really freak me out, how we could cover a weeks' worth several subjects in about 3 or 4 hours.
I'm glad your young one's there, though. She has an opportunity to learn a lot sociologically, whether anything new is class or not. Like when elementary kids learn so much during recess...
