All packed and ready to go! We drive him to his dorm room tomorrow. I am genuinely excited for him. He's already trying to decide if he should join the Argentine Tango club or the Judo club or both. And he's gotten notice of possible work-study opportunities. Plus he wants to audition for the available choirs. He knows he has to give most of his time to studying, but just the idea of all these fun things makes me smile.

Wow, I never got into ANYTHING, but then I was a massive introvert and sick of people by the time I got to college after being in such a crowd in high school.
Actually, I think that if you only study at university you miss a lot of what it has to offer. One of the reasons people with degrees from prestigious institutions do well in their careers is because of the networks that they developed at university. And employers look for much more than a degree. Other interests are really important, too.
With a bit of diligence about using the time between classes well, there is actually a lot of time to do other stuff. Judo, tango, and choir sound completely possible to me.
I was so determined to get good grades in college that I just didn't do nearly enough of that great extracurricular stuff. Hope he finds some things that really fulfill him!
I love your title! What a journey we're on....but I guess it will end sooner or later.
Hope he's all settled in and finds time to try it all out!!

Wow! I hope he has a great time! Big huge to you!
I'd vote for the Judo club :). A sport I've done since I was 9yo, met my husband through, and have gained so much from in the last 18 years.
Congrats to him on this big milestone! How exciting!
